Pick from a list
Paste the names, draw without replacement.
- Sourcecrypto.getRandomValues()
- Entropy—
- draws43
Drawing without replacement is not "pick a random item n times": it is a shuffle. Here Fisher-Yates runs on the cryptographic source, then the first n items are read. The result is a uniform permutation: every possible order is equally likely.
The distinction matters in raffles. With the naive method — draw, retry if already taken — the number of reads from the source becomes variable and the distribution depends on the implementation. Fisher-Yates performs exactly n-1 swaps.
How it works
- 01Paste one entry per line (or comma separated). Blank lines and duplicates are removed.
- 02Set how many items to draw: the pool shrinks, it does not repeat.
- 03Copy the result or continue drawing from the remaining pool.
Frequently asked
Pick from a list
Do duplicate entries count twice?
No, they are deduplicated before shuffling. If you need weighting, repeat an entry with a distinct suffix: explicit weighting is more honest than a silent duplicate.
Is draw order random?
Yes. Fisher-Yates produces a uniform permutation, so the first item drawn is uniform over the whole pool. There is no "favourite first".
Can I use it for a public raffle?
You can, but an official draw needs minutes and a third-party verifiable source. This tool is transparent in method, not certified in result.
